Hamilton Residence
Columbus, Ohio
Brian Pickard, 2003
Directed by a desire to question the role of public and private
divisions within a single family unit, here, the use of sliding
panels allow the inner walls to disappear into the solidity of
the concrete, revealing the private spaces to the public inner
core of the structure. As these walls are removed, the dimensional
equality of space may be felt as the ambiguity of boundary becomes
more apparent.
These features, coupled with the unique structure and style of
the family, allow the residence to function both as a typical family
home and as an open entertaining space.
